Diet Do Overs–They’re OK!

It’s never easy to get back up after falling off of the wagon when it comes to dieting. Maybe you’ve been dealing with stress at home, or the holidays tempted you with all their treats. Whatever the reason that you weren’t able to keep to your diet, don’t let it get you down. Everyone makes mistakes. Making serious lifestyle changes won’t often happen on the first try.

So remember these tips when it comes to dusting yourself off and getting back on the diet horse.

Recruit a friend

Dieting is never easy when you’re alone. Having someone along for the ride gives you support when you need it, and motivation to succeed. If you can’t find a friend or loved one to diet with you in person, then find someone online. There are many diet specific message boards and chat rooms where you can find a kindred spirit to go through your diet journey with you.

Cheat days are there for you
No matter what kind of diet you are on, it’s important to include a cheat day to indulge yourself. Whether it’s once a week or once a month, give yourself a day with a little wiggle room. By being able to regularly indulge (in moderation of course!) in your favorites will make it easier for you to stay on track. That way you don’t feel as if you’re having to go without the foods you love.

Keep trying
This is the most important tip of all. No matter how many times you may fall behind in your diet, you have to keep trying. The hardest step is starting in the first place. By already being on a diet, you are well on your way to a healthier you. It doesn’t matter how many times it takes, you will succeed in the long run and see the long term weight loss goals you crave.

Dieting is not easy. But then again, nothing worth having is ever easy. Remind yourself often that you are making the types of healthy changes that will have a positive effect on the rest of your life and you’ll go far.
